PETA ran an ad in the Boston craigslist personals to attract attention to a female pit bull “Misty” who was chained up in a back yard 24 hours a day. Everything about the ad indicated a female human, but…
in fact, the forlorn “brunette” named Misty is actually a female pit bull who lives in a back yard at the end of a chain 24 hours a day. Men who responded to the ad received an e-mail directing them to a MySpace page about Misty, http://www.myspace.com/misty_love_xo, that gives information on how to help dogs who are kept chained outside, where they are forced to endure all weather extremes and spend their entire lives eating, sleeping, and eliminating on the same small patch of ground. Sympathetic men are encouraged to work on getting a chaining ban implemented in their community and to sponsor a doghouse for a needy dog.
Do you think this is an effective or helpful tactic, to raise awareness of the issue or yet another silly media stunt by PETA ? Â
