Chili Dogs Pay for Dog Park

April 15th, 2007 · No Comments

In what could be considered one of the most creative ways to fund a dog park, the Evansville Dog Owners Group (Illinois) held a chili dog fest Sunday afternoon in order to help fund a local dog park (Kleymeyer Dog Park).

In addition to funds coming from the sale of Manwich covered weiners, the group also is selling memberships to the park - of which about 200 remain. As many local dog park advocates and Dog Owners Groups have started to realize, accountability for behavior within the dog park lies squarely upon the people that use the facilities. What better way to make sure people are doing their part than having them pony up a little cash?

Of course, not everyone with the cash is able to participate, as some eligibility requirements are also in place:

We require them to be vaccinated and everything, so you don’t have to worry about them playing with other dogs and possibly transmitting a disease.
