Puppy love is an informal term for feelings of love between young people, especially during adolescence, so-called for its resemblance to the affection that may be felt towards a puppy. See also limerence and crush. The term is in common usage in the United States, but lesser known in the United Kingdom and colonies such as New Zealand and Australia.
