I wouldn’t say I’m particularly lonely - it’s kinda tough to be lonely when you’re married with a daughter, have another baby on on the way, and have two large dogs to look after… but we do have people in different parts of the country we’d like to be closer to - my brother in Italy, my sister and her husband in Philly, and my wife’s sister and her family in Nashville.
Often, when my wife and I have traveled, we’ve sometimes felt like the travel guides didn’t cut it - didn’t offer or highlight the non-touristy places that you should see when you’ve already hit all the main attractions. After searching online for awhile, we’ve found the site Lonely Planet to be extremely helpful - especially the Thorn Tree Forums - in letting us connect with other people in other parts of the world with interests similar to ours who could help us find cool stuff to do when in their backyard.
Today marks a really special day because I just found out that the site - DogBoston - has now been immortalized so to speak… by being listed in the 2007 Lonely Planet Guide to Boston!! Yes, folks, listed on Page 276 is a beautiful writeup about the site!!
You can see it here Lonely Planet Boston Guide
“Everything man’s best friend needs to know about Boston.” - I love it.
I’ve learned a lot, and it’s been a very personally enriching and rewarding experience, filled with helpful people and searchers who’ve found what they’ve been looking for. Thanks to everyone who has helped me get this far, and hopefully, one day I’ll make enough money from the site to pay for all these darn web hosting bills ![]()

Well, that’s great, isn’t it? Love when they catch you by surprise like that.
