The FDA is finally looking into the Pet Food Recall that recently sent thousands of pet owners to the vet seeking care for their cats and dogs. Tainted pork, which made its way onto human plates in California, is now included in the list of contaminated foods. The pigs also consumed tainted melamine, the same chemical that put our pets in unnecessary distress.

• In the US, more than 60 million containers of cat and dog food were recalled.
• The FDA said criminal charges are a possibility.
• Royal Canin USA became the most recent company to recall pet foods.
• Two companies who received melamine tainted foods are not publicly known because they did not admit to using contaminants in their products.
• Banfield Pet Hospitals is working with the FDA to count pet deaths which range from as low as 16 to web-based sources indicating much higher counts in the hundreds and even thousands.
