A chemical commonly used in the manufacturing of plastics, melamine, is now being investigated as a potential cause for the sickness and death brought onto cats and dogs recently. While investigators are sure it was contaminated wheat gluten, they had not uncovered any signs of rat poison in recent tests. Looks like the rat poison rumor could have just been a knee jerk reaction to people finding out their wheat gluten was coming from China.
When the chemicals from the packaging end up in the final product, you know something is wrong.
Well, they haven’t yet concluded that melamine was the cause of the animals deaths, but it could turn out to be the case.
