Tufts Free Dog Spay Program (North Grafton)

November 17th, 2007 · 2 Comments

Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine has a free dog spay program (female dogs only). Surgeries are performed by third year veterinary students, supervised at every step by experienced veterinarians. This service is completely FREE of charge and in addition to the spay the dogs also receive a free heartworm/lyme test and samples of Frontline and Heartguard. You must bring your dog to the vet school in North Grafton. The following are some requirements the dogs must meet:

  • No older than 7 years
  • No younger than 3 ½ months
  • Must weigh at least 10 pounds, but no larger than 70 pounds.
  • Must be in good health (no upper respiratory symptoms, significant heart murmurs)
  • No brachycephalics (boxers, pugs, bulldogs, etc)
  • Must be current on all vaccinations (especially rabies)

Please contact Sue Carbone to set up an appointment at 508-887-4326 or sue.carbone@tufts.edu

Have a 9 month old border collie, she just had her first heat and when completed would like to arrange for her spay procedure. Please advise if she can be scheduled, we are limited with finances but have decided not to breed her.
